What are the Odds?

Governor Perry:  "The state has said clearly that it is going to         accept gambling as a form of entertainment to be legal in the state of Texas," he said, pointing to popular votes that legalized the state lottery and pari-mutuel gambling at horse and dog tracks.                  [Source:  Austin American Statesman]

Voter tallies in the state have consistently shown the majority of Texans favor gambling.  Even in some legendary conservative, anti-liquor ("dry") counties,
Texans are in favor of legalized casino entertainment.

By supporting a constitutional amendment, our elected officials could "let the voters decide" - without committing to a position on casino gaming.
