History
Formed in 2004, Let the Voters Decide is a bi-partisan grassroots organization based in Austin, Texas. Let the Voters Decide works closely with many statewide activists, consultants and the Texas Legislature on a spectrum of issues that affect the future prosperity of Texas. Currently, the organization serves as an informative point of contact for public, governmental and media inquiries about Letting the Voters Decide on the issue of expanded gambling versus higher taxes in Texas.
Mission
The mission of Let The Voters Decide is as follows:
- Promote “letting the voters decide” on key issues that affect the future prosperity of Texas. The people of Texas should have a say in whether or not they want increased taxes, slashed government services/jobs, or a “voluntary” casino entertainment tax. We believe the voters should have an opportunity to decide how gaming should be expanded in our state.
- Educate Texas voters, legislators and the media on the benefits of legalizing casinos. To increase awareness of the potential Texas gaming industry and its related economic benefits through aggressive, on-line educational programs designed to bring our message to concerned tax-paying citizens of Texas, the Legislature, and the media.
- Form a statewide network of online activists/supporters to convince our legislators to pass a casino referendum and LetTheVotersDecide on this important issue.
- Monitor issues on behalf of concerned LetTheVotersDecide supporters and represent Texas' best interests for a prosperous future.
- Cooperate with government officials in advancing these interests.
